Beyond Words is an expressive art healing experience in Beirut and online that uses art therapy-inspired techniques to help you explore emotions, gain clarity, and express what may be difficult to put into words. Guided by Olga Safa, a working artist with a diploma in art therapy.
No artistic experience or talent is required. The focus is not on creating beautiful artwork, but on using creativity as a tool for self-expression, reflection, and emotional exploration.

What is expressive art therapy?
Expressive art therapy uses drawing, painting, colour, collage and writing as a way to reach feelings that talking circles around. The American Art Therapy Association describes art therapy as a way to improve cognitive and sensory functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, and resolve conflicts and distress. Beyond Words draws on those methods in a healing rather than clinical setting: it is not psychotherapy, and Olga will say so if she thinks you need a clinician alongside.
What makes the sessions unusual is who holds them. Olga paints and exhibits; her own canvases are, in her words, "a window into the inner world". She knows from the inside how a colour can say what a sentence cannot, and she brings that fluency to your page without ever judging what lands on it.

Who this is for
People who go quiet when asked how they feel. Anyone processing grief, a separation or a transition who has run out of words for it. Teenagers and adults alike, in Beirut or online with paper and whatever colours are at hand. It also sits well after a Family Constellation, when something has moved and needs a form. For a lighter, purely creative session with no therapeutic frame, see the art classes in Beirut.
A Space Beyond Words
There is no right or wrong way to create.
You don't need to be an artist, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to express before you begin.
Through creativity, we allow what is inside to find a form — sometimes revealing feelings, thoughts, or insights that words alone cannot reach.
