Ancestral healing in Beirut, with Olga Safa: a way of working with the trauma, loyalties and unspoken rules that travel down a family line, so that what was carried can be seen, honoured and set down. Sessions combine Family Constellations, somatic breathwork and gentle energy work, in person in Qoraytem or online.
Lebanon knows something about inherited weight. War, displacement, sudden loss and emigration sit in almost every family here, often two or three generations back and rarely spoken about. Ancestral healing does not ask you to relive any of it. It asks what you might be carrying on someone else's behalf, and whether it is time to give it back with respect.

What is ancestral healing?
Ancestral healing is the umbrella for practices that address generational trauma: the fears, silences and patterns that a family passes down without anyone deciding to. The therapist Mark Wolynn, whose Inherited Family Trauma training Olga completed in 2025, describes how an unresolved experience in a grandparent can surface as anxiety, a relationship pattern or a sense of not belonging in a grandchild who never knew the story. The American Psychological Association notes that trauma's effects can extend across generations through both learned behaviour and family environment.
In systemic work the language is loyalty. A child will unconsciously stay loyal to an excluded or suffering ancestor by repeating their fate. Healing does not mean cutting the tie. It means seeing the ancestor, giving them their place, and taking only what is yours to carry.
Signs you may be carrying something inherited
- A fear, sadness or anger that feels older than your own life
- The same pattern repeating across generations: early loss, separation, addiction, financial collapse
- Feeling responsible for a parent or grandparent's pain
- A sense of not belonging, or of not being allowed to succeed or be happy
- Family secrets, exclusions or people who are never mentioned
- A body that stays braced even when life is calm
How the work unfolds
Map the system
We look at your family across three or four generations: who is there, who is missing, what happened and what was never said. You do not need the full history; the gaps are often the point.
Constellate the pattern
Using Family Constellations, the pattern is placed in the room. Representatives or markers stand for the ancestors involved, and the dynamic between them becomes visible.
Let the body release
Where the weight is held physically, somatic breathwork or sound gives the nervous system a way to let it go. Insight alone rarely does that; the body has to be included.
Take your place
The session closes with a resolving movement: the ancestor is honoured, the burden is returned, and you stand in your own place in the line, lighter.
Who this is for
Anyone who senses that a pattern in their life did not start with them. Adults whose parents or grandparents lived through the war, the 2020 explosion or emigration, and who feel its echo without a story to attach it to. People who have done years of personal work and still hit the same wall. And anyone preparing to become a parent who would rather not pass the weight on.
Sessions are one to two hours, individual or in a small group, in Beirut or online. If you are unsure whether ancestral healing or a straightforward constellation fits better, the FAQ helps, or send a message and Olga will tell you honestly.
